INTRODUCTION

In a real-world business environment, you will need to obtain stakeholders’ support to undertake a project to implement a technical solution. To get buy-ins from stakeholders and secure funding for your project, you may need to write a project proposal for the stakeholders. Project proposals are important because they justify the need to do the project, describe the proposed solution, and communicate the project’s goals, objectives, deliverables, expected timeline, and needed resources. A project proposal also explains how the success and effectiveness of the completed project will be measured. A technical report specifying the technical requirements of the proposed solution and an executive summary describing the project’s main points are also components of a project proposal.

The purpose of this performance assessment is to measure your competence in producing written deliverables for a project in which a technical solution is proposed to stakeholders and implemented in a real-world business environment.

In a prior course, you designed and developed an AI/ML product. In this task, you will create a technical solution project proposal, which you will deliver to the stakeholders to persuade them to implement your AI/ML product. This project proposal will include an executive summary and a technical report. You will use your completed AI/ML product to guide you as you complete your deliverables for this assessment. You may also draw on any real-world experience you have with writing project proposals and executive summaries.

REQUIREMENTS

Your submission must represent your original work and understanding of the course material. Most performance assessment submissions are automatically scanned through the WGU similarity checker. Students are strongly encouraged to wait for the similarity report to generate after uploading their work and then review it to ensure Academic Authenticity guidelines are met before submitting the file for evaluation. See Understanding Similarity Reports for more information.

Grammarly Note:

Professional Communication will be automatically assessed through Grammarly for Education in most performance assessments before a student submits work for evaluation. Students are strongly encouraged to review the Grammarly for Education feedback prior to submitting work for evaluation, as the overall submission will not pass without this aspect passing. See Use Grammarly for Education Effectively for more information.

Microsoft Files Note:

Write your paper in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) unless another Microsoft product, or pdf, is specified in the task directions. Tasks may not be submitted as cloud links, such as links to Google Docs, Google Slides, OneDrive, etc. All supporting documentation, such as screenshots and proof of experience, should be collected in a pdf file and submitted separately from the main file. For more information, please see Computer System and Technology Requirements.

You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.

A. Technical Solution Project Proposal

    2. Identify the customers the AI/ML product will serve (e.g., internal teams, external customers) and their specific needs.
      1. Explain how the technical solution meets the needs of the customers identified in part A3b.
    3. Identify the project’s stakeholders.
      1. Explain how the technical solution meets the needs of the stakeholders identified in part A3c.
    4. Explain the gaps between the current system and the organization’s needs, including how your technical solution bridges those gaps.
    5. Identify two specific, measurable goals of the project (e.g., increased efficiency, improved customer satisfaction, new revenue opportunities).
    6. Discuss how others have addressed the business problem described in part A3a or similar problems. Cite at least three peer-reviewed sources that support the discussion.

Project Plan

  1. Develop a project plan by doing the following: Project Methodology, Phases, and Timeline
    1. Explain your development approach, including the methodology (e.g., agile) that will guide the execution of the project.
    2. Identify the specific phases of the project (e.g., prototype completion, testing, deployment).
    3. Create a detailed schedule for the project, including start and end dates for all project phases identified in part A4b.
    Resources and Costs
    1. List the required resources for the project, including human resources, technology, and tools.
    2. Provide a financial breakdown of the development, implementation, and maintenance costs.
    Implementation Plan
    1. Describe a step-by-step process for how the solution will be implemented and introduced to stakeholders.
